‘No credible evidence’ of Iranian nuclear weapons, says UN inspector

VIENNA (AP) — The U.N. nuclear agency says it is “increasingly concerned” about a stream of intelligence information suggesting that Iran continues to work secretly on components of a nuclear weapons program.

In a report, the International Atomic Energy Agency says “many member states” are providing evidence for that assessment. It says its information is credible, “extensive and comprehensive.”

The report, made available to The Associated Press on Friday, also says Tehran has stared installing equipment to enrich uranium at a new location — an underground bunker. Enrichment can produce both nuclear fuel and fissile warhead material.

Iran is under U.N. Security Council sanctions for refusing to freeze enrichment, which it says it needs for fuel only. It denies secretly experimenting with nuclear weapons program.
