Amazon beats rivals to “music locker” service
Amazon.com Inc introduces an online “music locker: service which will beat the rivals of Google Inc and Apple Inc. Through this service the customers can play songs on the smart phones and computers which they already own. The cloud drive was announced by the Amazon today and will let the customer to store the music files on the web servers of the company instead of their own hard drives. The customers can play the music files over a Amazon beats rivals to “music locker” service in internet connection directly from phones and on web browsers which are running the android software of the Google. Amazon will be pushed into the legal gray area because of the introduction of this new service. In the year 2007 they introduced the EMI sued MP3 tunes which offered a similar service. The music files can be stored on the computers which are owned by the consumers. But the company is not yet clear whether the consumers are having the right when they use remote storage services which are offered by the cloud computing. Amazon can beat Apple and Google into the new market with its new revolution cloud drive. It is expected that these two rivals will launch their services at the end of the last year.
To reduce the reliance on the sales of books and CDs and to be a bigger player in the digital content business are the partial plan of the service by the Amazon. Collion Gills the BGC partner’s analyst said they don’t have leadership in digital formats. He also said that the locker services are the next big race and it is what they want. Gillis said that he is expecting Google to introduce a remote music storage service in the month of May and in June apple must follow suit. The service from Amazon lets the users to listen to the music from most of the phones and computers regardless of where they bought the song. It will not work on the phones of the apple or have app on the devices of the company. Amazon announced that the customers can get 5 gigabytes of free storage initially. If the customer purchases any MP3 format album from Amazon they can get an upgrade to 20 gigabytes. The new purchase of music from Amazon will be faced directly to the cloud service and will not count against any storage quota. The customers can save the music files in AAC format or MP3 format.
