A leading Twitter application manufacturer UberMedia has been aiming to create a social media site which would be able to contend against Twitter, the famous microblogging site.
This looming Twitter competitor is said to draw many users as an online tool to raise usual issues concerning Twitter. Some issues can include Twitter’s 140-character limitation for posting updates and the perplexity that it may bring to new users.
Being a top producer of applications and online services for Twitter as well as other social media sites, UberMedia, already gained partnership with UberSocial, Echofon and Twidroyd.
In a recent statistics released by Sysomos, a market research company, it revealed that UberMedia, which is a Pasadena, California-based conglomerate, has a Twitter application that recorded around 11.5% of Twitter updates during a single day in March 2011. In addition to that, UberSocial ranks number three among the most famous mean of sending tweets after the site of Twitter and certified iPhone applications.
Ranked as number four is TweetDeck and Blackberry application of Twitter for posting updates, according to Sysomos. TweetDeck and UberMedia has been under negotiations to embark on a joint venture deal which was initially revealed by TechCrunch.
In 2010, Betaworks general manager Tony Haile mentioned that the TweetDeck users really vary from those that utilize certified applications of Twitter. TweetDeck begins its services as a technology incubator but they never offered services in core functionality.
A speedy increase has been witnessed by Twitter starting from being unveiled last 2006 wherein it has obtained already more or less 200 million listed users. During the previous week, their record shows that Twitter users were posting 155 million messages daily which was a 282% rise as compared to the same period last year. There was also a rise of 52% in registrations during the quarter ending in March this year as against the same quarter last year.
Even if Tumblr was able to keep on track with Twitter’s success, other contenders like Google Buzz and FriendFeed did not succeed. According to Twitter, among 10 active users, only one does not make use of its site or its authorized applications in a minimum of one time monthly.
