In tonight’s episode of Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model the drama hots up as the wannabe models are told they must strip off in a photoshoot for beauty brand All For Eve.
After an emotional makeover session – Lady Gaga and Madonna stylist Paul Percival crops and dyes one girl’s hair and turns another pink – the young models are informed that the latest challenge is to be a nude photoshoot.
With the second round of eliminations looming, each of the 11 remaining girls is desperate to impress but, despite nerves and hang ups, faces the daunting challenge head on and plucks up the courage to strip for the camera.
Holly Higgins – a new mother who Elle chose on account of her ‘strong, athletic but sexy body’ stood out from the rest with her beautiful photograph.
Despite having her confidence knocked in last week’s episode when former supermodel Janice Dickensen told her she walked ‘like a truck driver,’ she put in a strong performance in front of the camera that resulted in an elegant, confident pose.
Having won photo of the week in the previous episode, Holly appears to be a strong contender.
Ahead of the show’s first episode Elle likened the 23-year-old marketing officer to the Ralph Lauren models she had worked with in the U.S., while Julien Macdonald said she looked ‘like an American dream, rich, expensive, commercial’ thanks to her performance in her previous challenge, when Holly was complemented on her ‘great’ body confidence. ‘You look like a natural in front of the camera,’ she was told, as she soared into the next round.
And after this week’s shoot, it looks as though Holly could well still be in the running.
Jessica Etonye managed to put aside past criticism ahead of her turn in front of the camera. Judge Julien Macdonald had called her athletic frame a ‘man’s body’ in the early stages of the competition, while Janice Dickensen left the model in tears when she suggested she slim after watching her on the catwalk, saying she was ‘bigger’ than the rest of the girls.
When it mattered though, the 23-year-old didn’t let the judges’ comments faze her as she took her moment in the spotlight.
Confident Jade, a 20-year-old insurance advisor, who told the judges early on they ‘would never meet anyone like her’, also shone on the day. The make up artist made the most Jade’s ‘unique’ freckles, enhancing them for a stylised photograph that made for a captivating result.
Anastasija Bogatirjova, 19, whom Elle Macpherson called ‘great fun, lean, sporty and beautiful’, looked comfortable in front of the lens – her experience as a drama student helping her get into the role.
Anastasija, who was among the bottom three last week, made it through to the nude photoshoot round thanks to her ‘potential and versatility,’ according to Elle Macpherson.
While Julien Macdonald admitted he found the Russian-born model ‘boring’, Elle supported her, saying she liked the model’s cleft chin.
But as previous series have proven, one good performance does not a model make – and as tonight’s episode airs, it could be any of the girls who are told to pack their things and go home.
