A crash between a school bus filled with 11 girls from Libertyville and a pick up truck sent all the teens to local hospitals with minor injuries.

Members of the Libertyville High School volleyball team were headed to Woodstock for a tournament when their bus crashed into a pick up truck on Route 83 in Grayslake this morning.

“The bus was hit and flipped on its side,” said Sgt. Scott Heimos of the Grayslake Police Department.

The accident occured at 7:41 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 at Route 83 and Washington Street in Grayslake. The girls were all transported to either Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville or Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital in Grayslake, Heimos said.

“None of the injuries were life threatening,” he said. “We had eight fire departments on hand to assist with transports.”

Heimos said the crash is still under investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming. Neither driver was injured.

“There were no red light violations,” Heimos said. “Both had a green light. Someone turned left in front of the other.”
