Dave Sykes, a 43-year-old paraplegic adventurer from Yorkshire, England, has completed a 4-month, 12,000-mile adventure from England to Sydney, Australia.

Sykes, who lost the use of his legs in a motorcycle accident in the early 1990s, took off via microflight from Yorkshire on April 28, traveling through Europe (France, Italy and Greece), Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia before landing in Australia, Sky News reports.

Sykes told the AP that he was “very emotional” when he started his approach into Sydney, adding “this is what I’ve been planning for 2 years…I couldn’t stop smiling really.”

His adventure is raising money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
