Mega Millions Winner Comes Forward to Claim $319M

Lottery officials announced Tuesday afternoon that the New York’s largest Mega Millions jackpot winner has come forward to claim the behemoth Mega Millions lottery for the $319 million jackpot. CNN reported Friday that the prize went to a group of New York IT professionals at New York’s Housing and Community Renewal Agency. But New York Lottery spokeswoman Carolyn Hapeman could not confirm this, saying the winner would be revealed in a press conference to be held at 10:30 am Thursday morning.Ticket sales increased the jackpot at the last minute from $312 million to $319 million. If buyers chose the cash option, the payout of $202.9 million is the largest single ticket collection in New York lottery history.The drawing, held Friday night, revealed winning numbers 22, 24, 31, 52 and 54. The Mega Ball number was 4.Those holding the winning ticket will be able to collect the prize money Monday morning in the Schenectady, New York, office, Hapeman told CNN Tuesday.
