Obama Visit to Poland aims to mend Relations in Eastern Europe

The visit of US president Obama to Warsaw was amidst emotion of people which has surrounded the state of Israel. It seemed as if it is a sanctuary which came from a strong anti-Semitism which washed away the Israel’s Jewish population during the Second World War. In his two day visit to Israel he first visited the Tomb of unknown soldiers and then traveled to the Ghetto Heroes Memorial were ten thousands Jews were killed during the 1943 uprising. To commemorate those soldiers he laid down a wreath of bronze at the base.

In order to see the ceremony around two dozens of Jewish community people came and these people were latter greeted by the US president.In the crowd a woman said to him that this is the only Jewish country they have and they trust him a lot. Obama in his speech held last week at the State Department called for a Israeli-Palestinian Peace negotiation and said that it should stand on the borders  that existed during the Arab – Israeli war in June 1967.In his statement he very clearly stated that the final agreement will include land exchanges in order to accommodate in the westbank. Though his proposal angered Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime minister  who termed it as “indefensible”.

According to the white house the visit to Ghetto memorial which was concluded with a group photo of Obama along with the Jewish people and this was planned prior to the speech of State Department.The presidential visit to the historic site was meant to mend relationship with Eastern and central Europe. This region has a great love for US because of its role in the Second World War.

Some of the regions leader has a different opinion and thinks that Obama in his keenness to change its relation with Russian might place their interest above Israel.Senior director of National Security Council’s for European Affairs Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall said that the main purpose of the dinner was to finish the pending businesses of Europe from post cold war period. She also said that Obama wanted to hear the leaders in the summit about the various democratic transitions that led the fall of Berlin Wall during the uprisings and the challenges of autocracies in Middle East and North Africa.
