Social media can lead to ‘Facebook depression’

Social network are the heroes of this twenty first century and to more precise at this point of time. None can deny the fact that the social media plays a huge role in the lives of the youth and even in the lives of the middle aged and the old. Everyone tries to their level best and educate themselves by learning the basics of entering into and creating an account in any of the social networks irrespective of their age and educational backgrounds. People regard this kind of attitude and action as the most interesting one in their life. According to a very recent survey conducted in many parts of the country it is said and done that these people consider themselves educated and being on the move of the world only if they participate and enroll themselves in these kinds of activities. Nevertheless, the addictions to these networks are increasing everyday at a very high speed. But a serious warning has been issued by the American Academy of Pediatrics very recently which utters that the children can be depressed to the core by enrolling themselves and using these social network sites. Actually none can deny the fact that it is not only the children but the adults too comes into the category. A study regarding this was conducted randomly among the users and addicts of these social networking sites and found out that for people and especially kids these social networks are the ways of exhausting their feelings and getting mingled with their friends and loved ones, instead of spending a beautiful evening with the family and coming out with their feelings. Gwenn O’Keeffe, who is the co-author of this study utters very clearly that this kind of behavior is very much dangerous and it is not good for the child’s future as it moves him in to a unknown world of solitariness. She adds that it is not only the technology that can bring love and affection to the children but the genuine love and care of the parents and parents should very clearly understand this concept and provide these to their children without any complications. She admits that this kind of environment should be strictly overlooked by the parents every now and then. And for this concept the group which conducted the survey has coined the name as ‘Facebook depression’.
